      Wolfie, the enemy occupation as seen from the eyes of a forsaken puppy.   He sees things kept in darkness from the wider world.
      Gorky, a boy abandoned by his fleeing parents, he is caught behind enemy lines. To survive, he becomes a Resistor, learning the cruel rules of fighting and survival.
      Dog, a power lifter before the war with hopes of athletic glory.  Called to battle, his dream and body are smashed by the invader’s artillery.   He leaves  the hospital months later a damaged and changed man, still willing to continue the fight.
      Julia, raped by indifferent Russian soldiers, her road to healing leads through the suffering of another.
      Father Alexiev, his faith is challenged and tested by the cold Russian State.  He, too, is brutalized by a State whose only plan is brutality.
      This is the day to day fight of little victories and little defeats.  The little stories that make up the great story of the War in Ukraine:  the epic struggle of a nation trying to save its very soul.
